| What is Container Leasing |
| Legal Indemnification |

| Cronos is one of the world's largest lessors of intermodal marine containers in the world, owning and managing a fleet of dry cargo, refrigerated, tank, and other specialized containers. Through an extensive global network of offices and agents, Cronos leases its own containers, as well as those it manages for several investment programs, to approximately 400 ocean carriers and transport operators, including all of the 20 largest ocean carriers. |
| Cronos focuses on supplying high-quality containers to its customers. All new containers ordered by Cronos are manufactured to specifications that exceed International Standards Organization (ISO) standards and are designed to minimize repair and operating costs. This investment in quality also enhances residual values. Cronos operates primarily dry cargo and refrigerated containers but during 1993 it began to diversify into tank and other specialized containers. Cronos believes that this fleet diversification maximizes the services it can offer by enabling it to supply a wide range of its customers' equipment requirements. |
| Cronos provides value-added service through a combination of its global support network, personal relationships with customers, a young and high-quality container fleet, up-to-date information technology, and flexible leasing arrangements. |

30 Years Of Containerization |
||
| In the 1960's, a typical ship carried 12,000 tons of cargo with a crew of 40 and required 10 days to unload. Today, a container-ship can carry six times the cargo with one-third the crew. Mechanized terminals unload and reload huge containerships, some carrying more than 5,000 containers, in less than a day. | ||
| Since the late 1960's, containerization and world trade has spiraled upward in synchronous growth. More efficient transport methods created greater volumes of trade which in turn required more economical transport of cargo, producing reduced transport time and costs. Today, the major cost components in international manufacturing and trade design are raw materials and labor. | ||
| One of the primary benefits of containerization has been the ability of the shipping industry to effectively lower freight rates due to efficiencies created by standardized intermodal containers. Containers can be handled much more efficiently than loose cargo and are typically shipped via several modes of transportation, including truck, railway and ship. Containers require loading and unloading only once and remain sealed until arrival at the final destination, significantly reducing transport time, labor, handling costs and losses due to damage and theft. Efficient movement of containerized cargo between ship and shore shortens the amount of time that a ship must spend in port and lessens the transit time of freight moves. | ||
